The US Supreme Court also found that no black person could be a U.S. citizen.  It also established that black people didn't have any rights that white people were bound to respect (Dredd Scott decision of 1857).  It took a civil war to overturn this incredibly bad decision.

*In 1973, in the landmark case of Roe vs. Wade, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the Fourteenth Amendment to theRoe vs. Wade, abortion on demand, abortion law, Roe v Wade United States Constitution provided a fundamental right for women to obtain abortions.  The decision was by no means unanimous.  Two of the justices, White and Rehnquist, dissented.

A pregnant single woman (Roe) brought a class action challenging the constitutionality of the Texas criminal abortion laws.  (read about how, in her own words, describes how she was "used" by pro-abortion attorneys and how she is now very much against abortion).

Government Endorsement

Our government continually tries to shape our behaviors through legislation.  Cocaine = illegal (don't do it), Milk = legal (OK to do it), Shooting someone = Illegal (don't do it), Drinking alcohol = legal (OK, but don't drive), etc.  In effect, anything "legal" is actually a defacto endorsement from our government. Abortion is legal, and therefore many women go blindly through the process believing that "if the government says its legal, it must be OK."  Unfortunately, countless women are shocked at the reality of the experience of killing their unborn child -- leaving them to wonder "why wasn't I warned?"

From the book Prolife answers to Prochoice Arguments:

"What is legal is not always right. Law doesnt reflect morality rather the law should reflect a morality that is independent of the law. Case in point: was abortion immoral on January 21, 1973 and moral on January 23, 1973? In the 1940s a German doctor could kill Jews legally, while in America he would have been prosecuted for murder. In the 1970s and American doctor could kill unborn babies legally, while in Germany he would have been prosecuted for murder. Laws change. Truth and justice dont."

Just because the government allows certain behaviors doesn't make them right.   Should the government legislate your morals?
